Daily Art Journal Look Through
Over the last couple of months, I have been working on a
daily art journal. I chose to do it in an old ring bound notebook I had lying
around, that I’d written notes in but now had no use for. The idea was that
what was written on the page would be a source of inspiration day to day if I
needed it.
Doing a daily journal was a way to encourage myself to do
art every day, even on the days when I didn’t really feel like it. The aim wasn’t
to make really great art or art that I necessarily liked: it was just to make
art. And I did. I didn’t manage to do every day, but I did most days. Some days
I put a lot of time and effort into the page and sometimes I just put a bit of
paint on and called it done. But that didn’t matter, because at least I had
done something.
Another really great thing that came out of it, was it
encouraged me to try new things. Although most of the pages were made with
acrylic paint, I incorporated collage, fabric, printing, lettering, charcoal,
watercolour, oil pastel and a few other things as well. It gave me a chance to
try out things and test ideas, which then inspired me to create other pieces
outside my journal.
I found the whole experience really rewarding and I intend
to continue with it in a new book. As I did with this one, I will be posting my
progress on Instagram.
Read on to look through my daily art journal.
