Tutorial: Heat Embossed Gift Tag Card [Simon Says Stamp Challenge]
The theme over at Simon Says Stamp for this week’s Monday
Challenge is Emboss It! (You can check it out here.)
I haven’t done embossing in a really long time and thought it would be a good
opportunity to try it out again. I had a lot of fun trying out old techniques
and new ideas.
If you like to find out how I made this card, read on.
First I covered the tag in a mix of red, blue and white acrylic
paint with a sponge.
Then I covered over this in a light layer of gesso, adding in
a little bit of texture by varying the thickness.
Next, I scribbled in a few places on the tag with a purple
embossing pen, applied purple embossing powder over the top and heat embossed
as normal. I also sprinkled a little bit more embossing power over the top and
embossed that.
I covered over the embossing in another light layer of
gesso.
I cut out a small, abstract shape from paper and used it as
a stencil to apply ink from an ink pad in places on the tag. I then embossed in
purple again.
Once again, I went over this in a light layer of gesso.
I put a strand of silver string through the tag and stuck
it onto a cream card.
Next, I drew a line across it in embossing pen and heat
embossed with silver embossing powder.
I really enjoyed the process of using embossing and I fully
intend to keep using it. I’ll be posting work in progress over on Instagram and finished pieces here on my blog if you are interested in taking a look.
Gorgeous tag! I love the background. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous creation with us over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog this week :)
