Corrugated Cardboard Cut Out Art
The idea for this came about just from some corrugated
cardboard lying around the house. At first my plan was to use it as a surface
to paint on, but then I got thinking some more and wondered what kind of effect
I’d get if I cut into the cardboard and peeled back to expose the different layers.
So, I had a go and created this.
Read on to see my process.
First I cut down the cardboard to the size I wanted and
painted it.
Then I cut triangles into the cardboard at different depths.
Some I cut just so I could peel off the first layer to reveal the wavey
cardboard layer underneath and others I cut down further so I could peel back
both of those layers to reveal the flat card layer underneath.
I then painted some of backgrounds of the triangles and
round the edges of others in gold. This is what I ended up with.
It was a really quick and easy project and created an
interesting effect. The corrugated cardboard was thicker than normal, so I could
have easily cut down into the deeper layers, but for my first try I thought I’d
keep things simple.
