Print Making: Linocut Stamps

I’ve been working on making collages a lot lately (you can keep up to date with my results over on Instagram) and have been wanting to add some different, printed elements to them, but it wasn’t until monoprinting the other week that I decided to commit to the idea and make myself some stamps. I had previously used clay to make stamps, but I decided this time I wanted to try something different. I chose to use lino as I had some experience with it, but not enough to be able to pretend I know exactly what I’m doing!

I wanted the lino in shapes that would reflect the shapes I was using in my collaging and printing, but then had patterns in them that might help them contrast and stand out from the work.

Overall I was happy with my results. I don’t know if any of the monoprints I have at the moment lend themselves to my stamped additions as I’m not completely satisfied with how they turned out. But I really like what I’ve done so far with the collaging and I’m really excited to continue that. Again, you can follow me on Instagram to see how that turns out!
