Positive/Negative Journals
If you have been following this blog for a while, you’ll
know I have tried doing Art Journals a few times in the past with varying
interest/success (and if you’d like to see them, you can find all the posts on
them, here).
I’ve found, in the past, that I have really struggled to
journal when I’m in a bad mood, even though I know that those are the times
when it would be beneficial for me to do it. I’ve noticed, in previous journals,
when I have been journaling in a bad mood that there is a change in colour
palette to darker colours, which I think I may have already noted in one of my
journal recap posts.
The idea of this project is simple: I have one journal to
work in when I’m in a good mood and another one to work in when I am in a bad
mood. When I’m in a good mood and in the mood to paint, I don’t always have a
project on the go, so this will be a way for me to get that otherwise wasted
creativity out. When I am not in a good mood, hopefully I’ll feel able to use
my other journal as a way of working through some of those feelings.
I might try and do it every day, although my track record in
achieving that hasn’t always been great! My plan is, however, to do it
regularly enough that I’ll be able to look back and see how many good vs bad days
I have had over the next couple of months.
In fact, I have already made a start! The journals I am
using were made using scrap papers, in the same way as I made these journals.
