Works In Progress 2

Two years ago (June 2016, to be precise), I made a post detailing some of the pieces I was working on at the time, many of which were projects I had been stuck on for a while, in the hopes that it would be enough to encourage me to finish them. I don’t often take the time I should to think through work I find difficult and to figure out a way forward, so I found it a really useful experience. It also did encourage me to finish some of the pieces I had on the go, so I hope it will have the same affect this time.

In the last post, I wrote about my ‘The’ Project, which I have since finished and you can read about here. I also wrote about some painted fabric that I didn’t know what to do with, which I turned into a mixed media piece, which you can read about here.

These are my current works in progress, which you will hopefully get to see the final results of in upcoming posts.

Embellished Sea Project

I started this project last June, which you can read about here, and I have carried on with more experiments to try out different ideas, but so far haven’t settled on a final idea for a final piece. I do feel like I’m slowly moving towards something though, so I think it is just a matter of having the confidence to choose a direction and stick with it.

Decay Project

Again, I made a blogpost about this project, this time in November 2016. I finished one piece, but still had a few others I was working on, including this one. Like the embellishing project, I did lots of experimenting beforehand, so I think it is just a case of trying to work on it again and hopefully coming up with a finished piece.

Angelina Fibres

I did a workshop at the beginning of last year which introduced me to angelina fibres (which you can find here) and I carried on working with them to create a few pieces, which I wrote about in this post. My intention was to add stitch to the final pieces to finish them off. I have completed a couple (which you can find on my Instagram) and made a couple more, which I still need to finish up. I really love these pieces, so this is high on my to-do list!

Miscellaneous Paintings

I have a number of paintings I have started and not completed. I think these few have potential, but it is just a case of getting back into them and finding a different direction to go in.

If you’d like to see how these turn out (if I do end up finishing them!) I will probably post the finished pieces over on my Instagram page, for you to see.
