Learning Ways to Use Tyvek (Lynda Monk Workshop)
The Saturday before last, I had the opportunity to go to a
workshop run by Lynda Monk. Based on ideas and techniques she covers in her
book Beautiful Bonded Surfaces, we were
taught how to create a number of different types of surface using Tyvek. Over
the course of the day, we managed to produce a series of beautiful samples
demonstrating all the techniques we learnt.
We tried out a number of techniques, which produced
different results. Of course, even using the same technique, different results
can be created by using more or less heat. These are just what I came up with
on the day!
I had never used Tyvek before, so this was a whole new
experience for me, but I really enjoyed using it and loved the effects you
could create with it. I want to work more on my decay project, which I spoke about again in my Works in Progress 2 post, and I think that the techniques I learnt
about in this workshop will come in handy with that and give me ideas to move forward
with the piece I’m working on currently and give me more ideas to work on new
pieces in the future.
