Painted Plant Pots

In the recent spirit of trying new things, like last week's rock sculptures, I have been painting plant pots. It came about in the same conversation as the rocks, but it has taken me a little bit longer to figure out the best technique for painting them. I ended up resorting to my fluid painting method, which I have been having so much fun with lately, and it has created some really lovely results.

I started off trying to paint in my normal style, but it was difficult to move and blend the paint as I normally would, on a curved surface, so I wasn't happy with the results I was left with. I decided I'd try doing my dried paint technique, but again, getting the paint to transfer onto a curved surface was really difficult and I wasn't that happy. I left one of them as it was, and decided to rework the rest of the pots with fluid painting.

Using my usual mix of paint and water from previous projects, I covered the pots (from the bottom, upside down), making sure to get a good pattern of colour on the sides. I then varnished them to give them shine and so they could be used as plant pots as well as to just be decorative.

As much as I am really enjoying doing fluid painting, I do feel like that is all I am writing about on the blog. It is definitely not all I am doing generally, so I will do my best to update you on my other types of work I am working on soon.
